Hit or Miss was founded on March 21, 1923, by the wives and daughters of Ozone, Divotees, and Niblicks members. The name “Hit or Miss” playfully reflected the range of golfing abilities in those early days, as well as the welcoming spirit that still defines the club today.

The Ozone Club
On January 3rd 1901, a small group of Quaker golfers gathered at the Friends’ Institute at 20 South 12th Street in Philadelphia to consider the proposal to form a “Friends Golf Union.” The rest, as they say, is history. The purpose of the Ozone Club exemplifies a Quaker principle: simplicity. "I play golf one afternoon each month on such links (where any of the association are members) as shall be selected by the executive committee." Thirty members meet 12 times a year - from April through November - for golf, dinner and fellowship. Visit Ozone >
Divotees
The Divotees are a men’s Quaker golfing society founded in 1921. In the years following the First World War, the Ozone’s ranks had grown beyond capacity. To preserve the spirit of fellowship while making room for the next generation, the Divotees were established, welcoming the sons, cousins, and close friends of Ozone members into a society of their own. Steeped in tradition and camaraderie, the Divotees continue to uphold the values and sporting spirit from which they were born. Explore the Divotees >
